[2001] Fallen Star

Many readers described “Fallen Star” as the first ray of light after a long dark period. This project is the truly opposition to the previously songbook “Before The Light… The Darkness” and for some people it seems to complete it in someway. The songbook contains 14 lyrics that talk about lighter topics [when compared to “BLD]. In “Fallen Star”, the main theme is second chances; the subject appears in song as “Feel Me Again”, “Step Inside” and “Leaving You With a Smile”. The author also returns to an older topic as sexuality [a recurrent trait in Felipe’s works] and explore new ones as redemption and freedom to live a life care-free. The songbook was considered by PoetryPoem as turning point event in Felipe history.

“If we analyze Felipe Lima’s works from the very beginning to his last piece in 2010, we’d see that ‘Fallen Star’ marks the end of Felipe’s first age. This songbook brings new features that will only be fully explored in the following works.”

Poetry Poem points these changes from the theme aspect to the technical one. According to the site, Felipe became more meticulous, showing the development as an artist. “Fallen Star” shows that Felipe starts to worry how your ideas are coming out. It’s no longer about just putting your ideas out, but how they are coming out. The sparks of these changes are minimal here, but they certainly are the initial kick that lead the author to the accomplishment of his next work.

The first piece used to promote “Fallen Star” was the double track “Feel Me Again/Step Inside”. The first part of the double track – “Feel Me Again” – was released during CAP event. The second one [“Step Inside”] was released a few weeks later. Both of them were well received by the readers and both got #1 in Dotlyrics Top100. The third lyric was “What Do U Think ‘Bout Me?”. The care-free life style song of Felipe got #2. The fourth and last piece released was “The Way of Heart” and it got #1. Felipe wrote that song for his father who had died one in the end of 1999. The beautiful ballad concluded the promotion of “Fallen Star” and what Ethan Gamminsky [one of the writers of CAP] named as the “early years” of Felipe’s writing.
